2018 - Making It Happen

And we’re off!

2018 is here and it’s time to start making things happen.

I see lots of negative posts on Facebook about the January Gym Users and New Year Resolutions in general but I think January is an absolutely great time of year!

In fact, it really is the perfect chance to hit the restart button and set some new goals so that important changes in our lives can happen.

So what if most resolutions don’t last past “Black Monday”. There are people all over the world in better places now because they made a resolution last year, or even 10 years ago and they kept it.

When it comes to getting back into shape or starting fitness for the very first time. I would recommend a layered approach to goal setting rather than throwing everything into the first week.

Instead of setting the goal of immediately cutting calories, hitting the gym 5 times a week, stopping drinking alcohol and not consuming any more chocolate, I would start with softer goals that can be built upon each week.

A more achievable approach might be to start with the gym, by firstly getting a solid training programme that is sustainable long term.

Following on from the training plan, I would recommend building in a healthier eating plan to support your training goals and healthy living.

With your training and nutrition in order, it becomes easier to set goals in other aspects of your life as you will be feeling better about yourself.

Goals to reduce late nights, alcohol content and sugar intake are likely to aid further health and performance benefits, thus bringing us into a situation where we can really take control of our days and ultimately our lives.  

Build a strong foundation first and set yourself up for an awesome 2018.
